GGs in Thailand
On this site I’ll be talking a lot about Thai bar girls, Thai ladyboys and Thai freelancers. While much of the advice applies equally to both girls and ladyboys, there are occasions where the distinction between the two is important. You will often see references to LBs and GGs in Thailand, but what do they mean? The term “ladyboy” is commonly abbreviated to “LB” in text messages and sometimes verbally among those familiar with the term, particularly when discretion is desired in public conversations.
Ladyboys, who can be highly feminine, are often referred to using female pronouns, especially by those in a relationship with them, who may even call them girls. However, when one needs to clarify that they are referring to a biological female, the terminology becomes trickier. “Real Girl” might come off as offensive to some, so the acronym “G.G.” proves useful.
What is a GG?
In Thailand, “GG” can be interpreted as “genetic girl” or “genuine girl,” depending on personal preference. To put it candidly, GG denotes an individual who was born with a vagina and still possesses one. In contrast, post-operative ladyboys, despite having a surgically created vagina, are still considered ladyboys.
I should make it clear that bargirls and ladyboys do not recognise or use the term G.G. themselves. It is primarily a term utilized in conversations and on internet forums among men who interact with such girls.
Have you heard this term to refer to GGs in Thailand (or anywhere else) before? Do you use it? Have you heard it used in another way? Can you tell the difference between a ladyboy and a GG?
